pH 7.01 is the neutral point calibration standard used in multi-point calibration procedures. For accurate pH measurement across the full 0-14 pH scale, meters should be calibrated at two or three points: pH 7.01 (neutral), plus pH 4.01 (acidic) and/or pH 10.01 (alkaline). The pH 7.01 buffer is the most critical calibration point because it establishes the meter's zero point.
