Why Test Magnesium Hardness?
Magnesium is a critical element in freshwater aquariums and aquaculture. In planted aquariums, magnesium is essential for photosynthesis and chlorophyll production—deficiency causes yellowing leaves and poor plant growth. For fish, magnesium contributes to general hardness (GH) and affects osmoregulation, bone development, and overall health. In cichlid tanks, proper magnesium levels help maintain ideal water hardness. The HI719's low range (0-2 mg/L) is perfectly suited for freshwater applications where precise magnesium monitoring ensures optimal conditions for fish and plants.
How to Use:
- Fill cuvette with 10 mL freshwater sample to line
- Add HI719 reagent packet and mix thoroughly
- Wait for color development (1 minute)
- Insert cuvette into HI719 Checker HC
- Press button to read magnesium hardness in mg/L
Reagent Availability:
Replacement reagents available separately as HI719-25 (25 tests) and HI719-100 (100 tests). Each reagent packet is pre-measured for consistent, accurate results.
Maintenance & Care:
Clean cuvettes with distilled water after each use. Store in protective case when not in use. Replace battery when low battery indicator appears. Use CAL Check feature periodically to verify meter performance. Keep reagents stored in a cool, dry place.
Note: Reagents sold separately after initial supply is used. For best results, use fresh reagents and follow all testing procedures carefully. Regular CAL Check validation recommended for quality assurance.
