The Berkey water filter system comes in several different models, all shown here for comparison. The stainless steel water filter systems range from the smallest one-quart system to the six-gallon system. Each Berkey model was engineered with a specific set of characteristics in mind. The most important factor to consider when deciding which size is best, is the number of people will be using the Berkey water filter, and how many gallons of water needs to be supplied. Also, consider how the filter will be used: would the water be used to supply just drinking water or would the water filter system also be needed for hygiene and cooking purposes? Is a light-weight plastic version needed or a stainless steel model? Finally, would the Berkey system be used for everyday use or only in emergencies?
All models produce the same quality of Berkey water. The difference between the models is the amount of water that they are able to produce per hour and the size of the storage container. The most popular model, the stainless steel Big Berkey, is great for the average household size. Larger Berkey water systems also hold more filter elements, which allows the system to produce water faster because of the higher flow rate.
Replacement Filters
Berkey Filters are designed to outlast all of the competition. Our main purification element, the Black Berkey® Filter, was engineered to last for years.
Even with the most economical water filtration device on the market, Berkey filter elements still need to be replaced at some point during their long life. When that time comes, we offer Berkey replacement filters built to the exacting standards.
Aside from the black filter elements used in most Berkey systems, we also carry replacements for the Berkey® Fluoride Filter, and Berkey Shower Filter™, which allows you to use your existing showerhead or replace the filter on the Berkey Shower Filter.
